32 years and counting

32 years and counting

It all started 31 years ago, when I created the first knitted and crocheted blanket for my newborn baby girl. I had been working on it since the time I knew I was expecting a baby. A new life needed some comfort and warmth when she was away from me. Something crafted and created with love and caring.

And my craft ended there, till covid.

And I picked up the needles again and made woollen caps for everyone I knew. Gifting it with love and joy. Everyone who received their gift loved it. And I was happy, finding my love for the process of creation all over again.

The newfound love became a passion, and I could never stop searching for new yarn, learning new designs and making more. The passion turned into an obsession pretty quickly, and I felt this need to make more, learn more, and do more.

Enter my madness for beads. Started with bracelets and went on to making earrings and necklaces. Combining yarns and beads, trying new designs.

And take a guess at who was my biggest guinea pig: my now adult daughter and inspiration behind the first-ever blanket I made.

A year later, I have a room full of yarn and boxes of beads, a whole lot of inspiration and perspiration, dreams and ambitions.

To make Monshis Handcrafts a woke, bohemian, wild, whack brand of self-expression. When you wear a creation made by me, you express yourself freely. It's your armour, your gear that you wear in battle.

It carries the energy of a warrior class of women who dare to dream, dare to speak up and dare to be.
